I enjoyed this story a lot. This bit really captures something important about them both:
She understands him. She thinks she has understood him all along, though the tension of the siege and her own frustration at the discovery of her Wraith DNA pushed her to confront him. She needed him then. She needed someone to fight with, and she knew that no one else would have risen to the bait.
Teyla's never reacted to anyone the way she reacted to Bates, and this is a great explanation of that.
And I adore Bates's letter. I love that he's so unapologetic, because that's exactly how he would be - and that Teyla gets it. So very cool.
