A/N: Written for the
teyla_lorne mini-fest for
spazzula, who asked for: stick fighting, humor, Lorne teaches Teyla to paint. Sorry it's late :).
Lorne is stretching on his balcony when he hears the door chime. Every muscle in his body aches. He opens the door to find Teyla standing on the other side.
“Oh no. I’m done for the day. I learned my lesson. Don’t pick on chicks with sticks.”
She raises an eyebrow. “Chicks, Major?”
“It’s Earth slang. It means ‘beautiful, intelligent woman’.”
“I have lived in Atlantis for several years now, Major. I am quite familiar with Earth slang, and it means no such thing.”
He looks sheepish. “Sorry?”
She moves past him, into his quarters. “That is all right, Major. I have come to collect my payment.”
He turns to look at her. She’s standing in front of the balcony, silhouetted against the orange light of the sunset. “Payment?”
“For your bantos lesson.”
“Oh, right. Um...I’m sure I’ve got some chocolate around here somewhere. Or are you taking payment in coffee these days?”
She smiles at him. “Actually, I was thinking of taking it out in trade.”
Now his eyebrow raises. “Trade?” Mentally, he’s mixing paints to get the color of her hair just right.
“I have taught you a skill, now you must teach me one.”
“I don’t know that I have any skills you’d find worthwhile.”
Her smile turns playful. “Oh, I am certain that is not true, Major.” She walks towards him, stopping inches away. “I have heard that you have many talents.”
Lorne swallows, looking down at her. “I do?”
She places a hand on his arm and smiles up at him, “Yes, Major. You do.”
He knows this game. The rules are the same in any galaxy. “Well, if you say so, then I guess I must.” His grin is wide and flirtatious. “When would you like to start your lessons?”
“Tonight, if you are free.”
He closes the gap between them and says, “I like a woman who doesn’t waste any time,” before bending his head to kiss her softly. He pulls back to gauge her reaction. For a moment, he thinks he’s gone too far. She just looks at him oddly.
But then she leans in and kisses him firmly. His arms slip around her waist and he pulls her body flush with his, deepening the kiss. She goes willingly, tangling her fingers in his hair and gasping.
When he finally releases her, she smiles up at him serenely. “I was hoping you would teach me to paint, but I would happily learn about Earth courtship rituals instead.”
He blushes for just a moment, and then replies, “You’re a very talented woman, Teyla. I’m sure you can do both.”
