I also really like where their relationship is in this. We've been playing it out when it's still brand new and then 15 years later after all hell has broken loose for Dan so there's a lot of stuff in between those two things for both of us to play with if we want. I like that. I like all the little things in this that hint to Dan being more at ease but still conflicted by their relationship (him still tensing, which he probably won't stop until/if they have sex again as vampires) and Nikola wondering about the lube.
Annnd.... yes. It's weird to talk about my version of the character versus a fic about the canon version of the character.
