The party was a success. Food was consumed and the end of an era witnessed *wipes away single tear*.

I received an overwhelming response to my request for names, and the decision was a difficult one.

In the end we called it:

Torte of the Ancients with Chappai'icing

Which means that the winners were [livejournal.com profile] debris_k and [livejournal.com profile] cosmonaut_elf. Congratulations!

We also chose three runners-up (in no particular order):

[livejournal.com profile] catherfina for "Starcake SG-1"
[livejournal.com profile] kaziwren for "Kree!"
[livejournal.com profile] eotu for "Gate"au

The winners will receive custom fics of at least 500 words, and the runners-up will receive custom fics of at least 250 words.

So, winners and runners-up, please reply to this post with a)three prompts b)up to two genres you'd like to see c)up to three things you don't want and d)your chosen pairing.

And as a quick reminder of things I can't/won't write:

-no McShep, Sheppard/Weir or Sheppard/Teyla (I'm just not sure I could do it justice)
-no Lorne/Kavanaugh or Lorne/Sheppard
-no femmeslash (I like it well enough, but I suck at writing it)
-no Michael/anyone or Wraith/anyone

Thanks to everyone who participated in this silly, little excercise. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Oh, for anyone who's interested, we also had:

Jaffa cakes!

ETA: For any interested parties, the cake was a simple boxed cake mix. The frosting was plain white frosting with various food coloring added. (I believe they used black with a bit of blue for the gate itself.) And this is the recipe for the Jaffa cakes:

1 cup sugar
1 cup lard (I used vegetable shortening)
1 cup molasses
1 cup cold water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
dash of pepper
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
flour enough to roll out

Roll rather thick for soft cookie. Sprinkle with sugar and bake at 450 degrees for 5 minutes.

This is the recipe as I got it from my mom. "Flour enough to roll out" is always more than I think it will be (way, way more), and it makes 5-6 dozen (read: lots and lots of cookies). Lately, I've been adding slightly less flour than you'd need to roll them and have shaped them into balls instead and flattened them with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. It seems to work very well and is much less time-consuming than rolling out the dough and cutting them all out.

I'm sorry I made you cry. I'm just so torn up over Sunday. I've pretty much given up on SGA except for fic where Carson is involved. I appreciate you writing this and it was exactly what I was wanting. If that makes you feel any better. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It was a good sort of crying. And it was helpful to show someone mourning. They just sort of skipped over that part in the show, which was too bad really. No one really seems to miss him. So writing this helped me feel a little better about it. :)
