I'm back!
You probably didn't realize I was gone, eh? I suppose it wasn't that obvious, since it's not at all uncommon for me to go weeks without posting here.
So, in case you were wondering, I was in the UK for a week. It was lovely. I even went to Cardiff, where I was extremely gratified to find that the very few geographical type details I included in Eight Days a Week do actually work in reality. In fact...
See that funky looking building to the right with the weird sort of sculptury thing on top? That's Lorne's hotel.

And this is the view Lorne paints from his pier.

And this is Lorne's pier. It's up a ramp and around a corner from the Torchwood entrance. Which does actually exist. I saw it. It was awesome.

They're a bit grey, because that was the one time it rained while we were there. And it only rained during the morning/early afternoon we were at Cardiff Bay. It was gorgeous again when we went to Cardiff Castle.
Also, I honestly think I saw RTD at the Bay. Only I'm cowardly and didn't want to walk up to a stranger and say, "Excuse me. Are you Russell T. Davies?" I thought that might be a bit awkward if he wasn't. Or even if he was.
Oh, and now I have all sorts of ideas for the McKay in Cardiff fic. Most of them involve Lorne forcing McKay to do touristy things. Oh the snark that will ensue. It will be a thing of beauty.

Date: 2007-08-06 02:29 am (UTC)Oh, and while I was taking pictures from the pier, a man came running up one side, across the front and back down the other side. He didn't look at all like Lorne, but it still made me happy inside. :)
