Alrighty, folks. This here's the how-to post for the Song Lyrics Challenge.
First of all, let me just say that I was overwhelmed with the number of people who signed up for this. This is the first challenge I've ever organized, and I thought I was being optimistic to hope for at least ten.
There are 28 of you.
So thank you so much to everyone who signed up. It seems a bit obvious to say this, but this challenge would not be happening without you.
So here's the deal.If you haven't received your assignment yet, you should get it in the next couple of days. Everyone should have their assignments by now. If you don't, let me know right away and I'll get it out to you. You have until November 11th to finish your piece. The minimum word count is 500. Other than that, I am placing no restrictions on what you write. The challenge is open to all fandoms, all pairings, gen/het/slash, AU...whatever you want. The only rule is that you must use one of the song lyrics you were assigned as the basis for your fic. You do not have to use the lyrics in your fic, but the connection must be there.
You are welcome to post your fic before the deadline. Just reply to this post with the link. (Edit: When you post your link, please provide the title of your fic, the fandom, the pairing if there is one, the rating, the lyrics you used as your prompt and a summary.) On November 12th, I'll post the masterlist. If you requested a reminder, I'll post a comment to your signup entry on November 4th. If you did not request a reminder, but would like one, comment here and I'll include you in the reminders.
If you have any questions at all about the challenge, leave them in a comment here, and I will try to answer them as quickly as possible.Okay, I think that's it. Go forth and fic, people!
ETA: Do not post your actual fic here. Post it to your own journal (or fic community, if that's how you roll). Just drop a comment here with the link, and be sure to inclde the following info:

Author note: I *don't* write angst. I just don't. It makes me sad and I usually want to eat a pound of cotton candy fluff fic after reading angst. And yet, these lyrics spoke to me of angst and pain and suffering, whispering in my ear. ::cries:: So I'm sorry if this *sucks* because I don't write angst, but the muse, she wasn't listening to *me*, she was listening to the music...
